Content Creation and Communication

Cameron Lafontaine

Sep 11, 2023

How I create and communicate with technology.

The majority of my online activity is professional or educational. My business requires me to run an account on most platforms, and while content may be scarce, actual communications with customers and technicians consumes a lot of my time. Second to this is my education and schedule, which cause me to complete most all homework assignments via phone, this being the first one of the semester that was done on my computer.

I try to take my education as seriously as I can and keep it a top priority. I like to take whatever material is in front of me and personalize it, which almost always requires further research. It may sound routine or minute, but it's that research that's led me to some of my most important influences. Topics such as the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Fire led me to more local and bloc-styled protests with the textile mill strikes in Massachusetts throughout the early 1900s.

Union work and open-source engineering directly inspire my own work with Rockingham Repair as well. I've helped create a community of over a thousand active technicians, amateur and profesional, to better educate and centralize repair knowledge. The group, which I founded with VideoGameRestoration of Nova Scotia, Canada, and CrossFaceGaming of PA, has since worked with many notable persons, including Gabriel Iglesias, Linus Tech Tips, Ifixit, and the Console5 Wiki Founder Luke Sandel. A majority of these escapades are recorded in various posts on Instagram, Tik-Tok, and Reddit, which make up the bulk of Rockingham Repair's content.
