My Technology Use

How I use technology.

My technology use is distinctly divided into three sections: personal, professional, and educational. These three categories are extremely diverse, and together help me better navigate each part individually.

My technology use in education is extremely prevalent. I religiously vet the internet for textbooks, novels, key codes, etc. Thanks to these efforts I have bought a fraction of my required materials. Instead, I've found great success with library cards and PDF-search engines, though make sure to maintain conscious consumer habits in the process to avoid shorting independent creators.

Professionally, I believe in a free internet. America's web-infrastructure is notoriously poor thanks in part to the monopolies service providers have in the country. Agreements in the 1990's pledged a non-competition pact between the countries top providers that has left our internet system to be severely neglected in both maintenance and upkeep. Net Neutrality equally impacts this as it removes equal protections from website domains, meaning service providers can partition their data transfer speeds as they wish. This monopolization of domain and service provisions has arguably led to the bulk of modern capitalist problems. Despite my being a registered LLC and an actual small business I unequivocally support nationalization and socialization of the internet as a core stepping stone in social and national progress. I'm fortunately able to navigate these obstacles rather well, and have managed to establish relationships with many manufacturers and primary distributors, effectively slashing my overhead costs and commissions prices and allowing me to compete directly with corporations. Lastly, the bulk of my business is run through online commissions, which forces me to have a social media presence as a business.

My personal relationship with technology is very hostile. As stated I view modern internet usage as the bulk of capitalism's front. Data farming, algorithm-interactions, propaganda, and financial hierarchy rule every ounce of it and I can at least attest for the severe mental health impact that can have. I had previously been much more attached to social media, with constant usage of Instagram, Facebook, Tumblr, Snapchat, and chat forums, however have since detached from most of these platforms.
